I am currently artist in residence at Mansfield Road Community Centre for People with Mental Health Difficulties, based in Ilford, Essex. I am working in collaboration with the Community Centre’s Music Group that takes place weekly, making a short film about their experiences and the music they make. Service users are working with me in the making of the film, including camera operation, voice over and creative direction. - Kate Rowles (b. 1983), Lancashire, UK. Daughter, Sister, Granddaughter, Neice, Cousin, Friend, Stranger. Film / Video / Performance Artist / Photographer / Musician. MA Visual Performance (Time-Based Art Practices), (merit), Dartington College of Arts, 2007, UK. BA Theatre Studies, (1st), Lancaster University, 2005, UK. I am an interdisciplinary artist, I like to do a bit of everything these days: A long-term, ongoing video project: The Home Video Series which involves making short videos that document family life in unconventional ways. Alongside: Short film about everyday life. Instinctive photography in response to the world around me, that which triggers my heart to value the way things are. I compose for piano and sing, and have recently started making music with electric guitarist Tim Young under the name, 'Subject'. Lately I have started to draw. I also keep a diary, always have, always will.
